What this site collects, who processes it, how long it's kept, and how to opt out.
Who is responsible
This is the personal website of Dev Patel (Pittsburgh, PA, USA). For anything on this page, including access or deletion requests, email dev.patel2436@gmail.com.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how it is used: pages viewed, how far you scroll, links followed (GitHub, LinkedIn, email), résumé downloads and contact-form submissions. Google receives your browser and device type, screen size, language, approximate location (city level, derived from your IP address, which GA4 does not store) and the site that referred you, and sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to recognise repeat visits.
Google signals is enabled. For visitors signed in to a Google account with Ads Personalisation turned on, Google may associate this visit with that account to produce aggregated, anonymous reports on demographics and interests, and cross-device counts. I never see who you are. You can control this in your Google account's My Ad Center and My Activity settings.
Analytics data is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
Session replay and heatmaps
Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used — clicks, taps, scrolling and mouse movement — and turns it into heatmaps and anonymised session replays, so I can see where a layout confuses people. Text you type is masked, and the contact form is fully masked, so it is never recorded. Clarity sets cookies (_clck, _clsk, CLID) and receives similar device and browser information. Microsoft's privacy statement applies to that data: privacy.microsoft.com.
Consent
If you're in the EU/EEA, the UK or Switzerland, analytics and Clarity cookies stay off until you choose Accept in the banner; until then Google receives only cookieless, aggregate pings and Clarity runs without cookies. Elsewhere they're on by default. Anyone can change their choice at any time with Privacy choices in the footer.
Contact form
Anything you send through the contact form (name, email, optional company, message) is stored by Netlify, which hosts this site, and forwarded to my email. Submissions are checked by Netlify's spam filter. I use them only to reply to you, never for marketing, and I don't share or sell them. Ask and I'll delete yours.
Your rights
You can ask what I hold about you, or ask me to correct or delete it, by emailing dev.patel2436@gmail.com. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or California law) you may have further rights, and you can complain to your local data-protection authority. No advertising runs on this site and no personal information is sold.
Opting out
Use Privacy choices in the footer and choose Decline, or use a content blocker or Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works fully either way.
